Alexander Bublik and Lukas Rosol will compete in Sunday’s singles final of the Peugeot Slovak Open. Bublik, who battled through the qualifying at the €106,000 hard-court event, edged past Matthias Bachinger 7-5, 7-6(4).

The 21-year-old from Kazakhstan fired 15 aces, winning 80 per cent of his first service points to prevail after one hour and 27 minutes. Bublik is seeking his third title on the ATP Challenger Tour, his first since February last year in Morelos, Mexico.

Rosol defeated Dennis Novak from Austria 7-5, 7-6(1). The 33-year-old from the Czech Republic saved all three break points he faced, capitalizing on one of his own two chances to secure victory in one hour and 24 minutes. Rosol could lift his second ATP Challenger title of the season following his triumph on home soil in Prague. The former World No. 26 won the only previous meeting with Bublik in the qualifying of the 2017 Kremlin Cup in Moscow.

Later in the day, Denys Molchanov from the Ukraine and Igor Zelenay of Slovakia took the doubles title. The No. 3 seeded duo fought past Ramkumar Ramanathan of India and Andrei Vasilevski from Belarus 6-2, 3-6, 11-9. The final lasted one hour and 19 minutes.
