The 32-man-draw has been whittled down to the final two, as Spaniards Roberto Carballés Baena and Pedro Martínez will compete in Sunday’s singles title match of the Sánchez-Casal Mapfre.

Carballés Baena, No. 1 seed of the €43,000 ATP Challenger clay-court event, battled past third favourite Marco Trungelliti of Argentina 6-4, 1-6, 7-5. The 25-year-old from Tenerife won three points more than his opponent to seal victory in two hours and 23 minutes.

Martínez defeated Italian Filippo Baldi 6-4, 6-2. The World No. 174 from Valencia capitalized on five of his six break point chances to advance in one hour and 24 minutes. Following his triumph in Bastad this year, Martínez is seeking his second ATP Challenger crown. Carballés Baena could lift his fifth Challenger trophy. Earlier in the season, he clinched his maiden ATP World Tour title in Quito, Ecuador.

Carballés Baena won the only previous meeting between the two Spaniards at the Marbella Challenger earlier this season.
