Michael Mmoh wins Columbus Challenger

COLUMBUS, September 24, 2018

Michael Mmoh is the champion of the 2018 Columbus Challenger held at Ohio State Indoor Varsity Tennis Center. The No. 3 seed from the United States upset the tournament’s No. 1 Jordan Thompson of Australia 6-3, 7-6(4) in Sunday’s final of the $75,000 hard-court event.

Mmoh sent down four aces and converted four of his eight break point chances to seal victory in one hour and 46 minutes. By lifting his third ATP Challenger trophy, his first title of the season, the 20-year-old earns $10,800 in prize money as well as 80 ATP-Ranking points.

Earlier in the day, Tommy Paul from the United States and Canadian Peter Polansky claimed the doubles title. The duo defeated Gonzalo Escobar and Roberto Quiroz from Ecuador 6-3, 6-3. The final lasted only 50 minutes.
