ÜBERLINGEN, August 25, 2018

Two Germans will compete in Sunday’s singles final of the Überlingen Open, as No. 2 seed Peter Torebko will face the tournament’s No. 3 Peter Heller for the title at the $15,000 ITF Pro Circuit event.

On a day with drizzling rain at Lake Constance, Heller continued his excellent run of form by winning 6-3, 6-1 against No. 5 seed Fabrizio Ornago of Italy. The World No. 398 saved all four break points he faced, capitalizing on four of his own chances to seal victory in one hour and 16 minutes.

„I really felt comfortable on court today. Although conditions were not easy, I moved well, put a lot of variety into my shots and it worked out,” Heller was pleased with his performance.

Three finals in a row

Heller will play his third consecutive final after lifting the Futures trophies in St. Pölten, Austria, as well as in Santa Cristina Val Gardena, Italy.

“I have won 14 matches in a row now, plus five victories in the team competition. I always feel great in Austria and handled the altitude well in South Tyrol. I enjoyed two perfect weeks but generally things are going well. I feel physically fit. I had a good preparation during the winter and it seems to pay off now.”

Heller has returned to Lake Constance for the fourth time and still enjoys the atmosphere at the tournament.

“Competing here in Überlingen is always fun, a highlight of the season, as so many people come by to watch the matches. It’s cool to play.”

Torebko beats Mena

Next up will be Peter Torebko, who beat No. 8 seed Facundo Mena of Argentina 7-5, 6-1 later in the afternoon. The 30-year-old Wesel resident sent down five aces and outpointed his opponent 71-46 to advance in one hour and 12 minutes.

Torebko is seeking his first title of the season. He leads 2-0 in head-to-head records with Heller. Their last meeting took place in Prague earlier this year. Heller will also play in the doubles final alongside compatriot Johannes Haerteis. The pair will take on Alexander Merino of Peru and Christoph Negritu of Germany.
