Ymer Leads Strong Contingent Of Qualifiers Into Isar Open Quarterfinals

Qualifiers headlined Wednesday’s second round action at the Isar Open led by Mikael Ymer, who knocked out Jurgen Zopp of Estonia, No. 3 seed of the €127,000 ATP Challenger clay-court event.

The 19-year-old from Sweden capitalized on four of his six break point chances to secure a 7-6(2), 6-4 victory in one hour and 38 minutes. Ymer, who made it into the semis on home soil in Bastad last month, will next take on reigning Kitzbühel champion Martin Klizan. The fifth seeded Slovakian beat Kamil Majchrzak of Poland 6-3, 6-3 in one hour and 27 minutes.

Kevin Krawietz saved six match points to overcome Sebastian Ofner of Austria 3-6, 7-6(4), 7-6(8). The 26-year-old German withstood 12 aces, won 12 points less than his opponent but prevailed after two hours and 38 minutes. Krawietz will appear in his fourth quarterfinal at Challenger level this season facing fellow qualifier Gianluca Mager of Italy who edged past Russian teenager Alen Avidzba 7-6(4), 6-3.
