Final Round Of The Isar Open Qualifying Is Set

PULLACH, August 6, 2018

The top-ranked players left in the qualifying draw at the Isar Open, led by No. 1 seed Arthur de Greef, advanced to the second round on Sunday. De Greef fought past Juan Pablo Paz of Argentina 6-4, 3-6, 6-1.

The World No. 248 from Belgium capitalized on four of his 12 break point opportunities to prevail after one hour and 57 minutes. De Greef will next take on Gianluca Mager of Italy for a spot in the main draw of the €127,000 clay-court ATP Challenger event at the Tennis Club Großhesselohe.

De Greef will be joined in the final round of the qualifying by compatriot Kimmer Coppejans. The No. 3 seed defeated Italian Fabrizio Ornago 7-6(4), 6-2. The 24-year-old Oostende native won 84 per cent of his first service points to secure victory in one hour and 47 minutes.

Next up for Coppejans will be German wild card entry George van Massow, who will join Kevin Krawietz as the the only two local favourites left in the qualifying draw. Krawietz will face Alen Avidzba of Russia next.

No. 4 seed Mikael Ymer edged out Zizou Bergs from Belgium 6-4, 6-1. The Swedish teenager saved both break points he faced, converting three of his own to advance in one hour and 28 minutes. Ymer will next play Alexandre Muller of France.
