Top seeds advance in Recanati, Eremin makes second round

Edoardo Eremin reached the second round on Challenger level for the first time this season

The favourites at the 13th edition of the € 42,500 ATP Challenger Francesco Guzzini taking place in Recanati, advanced to the second round on Tuesday.

Top-seed Ricardas Berankis rallied back from a set down to overcome Sebastien Boltz, winning 5-7, 6-2, 6-2. The world number 83 from Lithuania won 67% of his first service points and 54% of his second to finish the match after two hours and three minutes.

Second favourite Ruben Bemelmans had no problems to defeat David Perez Sanz, winning 6-2, 6-2. The 27-year-old Belgian hit seven aces on the hard court and didn’t have to save a break point to seal victory in only 63 minutes.

Third seed Michal Przysiezny beat Chuhan Wang, winning 6-0, 5-7, 6-3. The world number 142 from Poland fired 14 aces and won 82% of his first service points to close the match after one hour and 39 minutes.

Italian wild card Edoardo Eremin celebrated his first match win on the ATP Challenger level since reaching the second round in Napoli in 2013. The 21-year-old world number 523 defeated US-American qualifier Jesse Witten 6-3, 6-1 to face Joshua Milton next.
