SkiStar Swedish Open Kicks Off With Qualifying

BASTAD, July 15, 2018

After one week of ATP Challenger action, the ATP World Tour has returned to Bastad for the SkiStar Swedish Open. The tournament has been held every summer since 1948 and kicked off with the the qualifying on Sunday.

No. 1 seed Corentin Moutet continued his good run of form, rallying past Swedish wild card Markus Eriksson 0-6, 6-4, 6-2. The French teenager finshed runner up to Pedro Martínez at the Bastad Challenger on Saturday and will next face Christian Garin of Chile.

Henri Laaksonen from Switzerland, Calvin Hemery of France, Italian Simone Bolelli, Marburg Open champion Juan-Ignacio Londero, Viktor Galovic of Croatian and Czech young gun Zdenek Kolar also advanced to the second round of the qualifying.

Main draw action will start on Monday. Top seed of the ATP 250 clay-court event is World No. 11 Diego Schwartzman of Argentina. Spain’s Pablo Carreno Busta is seeded second.
