ATP Challenger Poznan 2015 – Day 7

Pablo Carreno-Busta lifted his 11th ATP Challenger trophy

POZNAN, July 19, 2015

Pablo Carreo-Busta is the champion of the ATP Challenger Poznan Open, winning the final 6-4, 6-4 against Radu Albot.

In the pair’s first tour meeting, it was the 24-year-old Spaniard dominating the match right from the beginning. Carreῆo-Busta capitalized on his first break point with a good forehand return in the seventh game of the second set and eventually took the frame in the following.

The Gijón native also started the second set with an advantage, when Albot lost his serve due to a double fault in the first game. Carreῆo-Busta broke again in the third and everything seemed to go his way. The world number 118 from Moldova needed some time to find his rhythm and gained his first break points after 66 minutes in the fourth game of the second set and converted the fourth. But Carreῆo-Busta stayed solid and eventually served the match out, claiming his 11th ATP Challenger title in his 11th final after one hour and 36 minutes.

Runner-up Albot was pretty satisfied with his performance during this week. “It was a tough match today, Pablo played really well. He beat me, but I am happy that I made it to the finals and unfortunately someone has to lose,” he told. “There are three tournaments upcoming on clay. Two in Czech and one in Germany. After that I’ll go for the US-Open,” Albot told about his further schedule and would be pleased to reach the main draw of the year’s final major directly.
