LONDON, June 20, 2018

The All England Club revealed their initial wild card picks for The Championships 2018, which starts on Monday, July 2, with eight British players selected for the two singles draws.

On the men’s singles side, Liam Broady and Jay Clarke have both been selected alongside Australian teenager Alex De Minaur, who defeated Daniel Evans in the final of the Nature Valley Open ATP Challelnger in Nottingham last week, while five more picks are yet to be announced.

Evans was not among the selected players. The former top-50 player from Great Britain has been in brilliant form since returning to the courts from a 12-month ban following a positive test for cocaine. Evans won 10 of his 13 matches on grass this season but now has to go through the Wimbledon pre-qualifying.

Seven of the eight womens’ singles players have been announced. British ladies Katie Boulter, Naomi Broady, Harriet Dart, Katy Dunne, Katie Swan and Gabriella Taylor have all been entered into the opening round, alongside Ons Jabeur of Tunisia.
