Marton Fucsovics wins the Banc Eric Sturdza Geneva Open to become the first Hungarian champion on the ATP World Tour since Balazs Taroczy at 1982 Hilversum. The 26-year-old Budapest resident eased past Germany’s Peter Gojowczyk, who has defeated players with 44 combined ATP titles this week, in Saturday’s singles final 6-2, 6-2.
Fucsovics didn’t face a break point, converting four of his own nine chances to secure victory in one hour and seven minutes.

“I really love Switzerland,” Fucsovics exclaimed. “Last year, I played my first ATP quarter-final in Basel and now I won my first title here, so it’s really special for me. We’ve been working a long time for this. The last two years were very hard for me in my life, but hopefully I will have a very long career after this.”
Fucsovics’ all five wins this week came over players who’ve won at least one ATP World title: Albert Ramos-Vinolas, Frances Tiafoe, Stan Wawrinka, Steve Johnson, Peter Gojowczyk. The World No. 60 takes away €89,435 in prize money as well as 250 ATP Ranking points.
Marach/Pavic clinch doubles crown
Oliver Marach of Austria and Croat Mate Pavic won the doubles title. The top seeds rallied past Ivan Dodig of Croatia and US-American Rajeev Ram 3-6, 7-6, 11-9. The encounter lasted one hour and 47 minutes. It was the fourth team title for the duo.
“I am very happy to win this tournament here. I won last year in Gstaad, so I guess I like Switzerland a lot,” said Marach.
“We were just fighting through the match, they played a good match. They are tough opponents and they were serving pretty good,” Pavic added.
