Elias Ymer headlined Wednesday’s second round action of the €127,000 Open du Pays d’Aix with an impressive comeback win over No. 4 seed Cameron Norrie from Great Britain.

The 22-year-old Swede capitalized on four of his five break point chances and won seven points more than his opponent to secure a 2-6, 6-3, 7-5 victory in two hours and five minutes. Ymer will next take on in-form Croat Nino Serdarusic. The runner-up from last week’s Prosperita Open in Ostrava edged out Norbert Gombos of Slovakia 6-4, 6-4. The encounter lasted one hour and 21 minutes.

No. 8 seed Thiago Monteiro also advanced to the quarterfinals. The 23-year-old from Brazil defeated US-American Bradley Klahn 7-5, 6-4. Monteiro saved the only break point he faced, converting two of his own to prevail in one hour and 22 minutes. Next up for Monteiro will be Guido Andreozzi, who emerged victorious from the all-Argentine-affair with qualifier Maximo Gonzalez 6-1, 6-2 in 66 minutes.
