Lukas Lacko is the champion of the inaugural €85,000 Glasgow Trophy when Scotland returned to the ATP Challenger Tour last week. The top seed from Slovakia rallied past Luca Vanni of Italy in Sunday’s final to clinch the title at the inaugural indoor hard-court event.

Lacko withstood 20 aces, hitting nine of his own to outpoint his opponent 102-96 after two hours and eight minutes.

By hoisting his 12th ATP Challenger career trophy, his first of the season, Lacko takes away €12,500 in prize money as well as 90 ATP ranking points.

“It definitely was not easy,” said Lacko. “Luca beat me two years ago and both of us like this faster surface where the balls bounce low. So I knew it was not going to be easy and in the end it was just two points that made the difference. I took my chances.”

Gerard Granollers and Guillermo Olaso took the doubles crown. The unseeded Spanish duo defeaeted the tournament’s No. 1 tandem Scott Clayton and Jonny O’Mara of Great Britain in the final.
