Ramirez Hidalgo defeats Dellien a second time in a row to reach quarters in Padova

Second part of the second round matches took place on Thursday at the ATP Challenger 2001 Team Padova.

Third seed Marco Cecchinato headlined the action taking on Duck Hee Lee in the final match of the day under floodlight. The 22-year-old Italian was in total control, lost his service only once and capitalized on five of his own break point opportunities, winning 6-2, 6-2.

After one hour and 27 minutes Cecchinato converted his fifth match point and advanced to his fourth consecutive quarterfinals, after he had reached the semis in Caltanissetta, Perugia and Milan the weeks before

In the round of the final eight, the world number 117 will meet Calvin Hemery. The 20-year-old Frenchman beat Pedro Cachin, winning 6-1, 6-4. Hemery saved four of the five break points he had to face and capitalized on four of his own to seal victory in one hour and 20 minutes.

Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo defeated Hugo Dellien for the second time within three weeks, following his first round victory in Perugia in June. The 37-year-old Spaniard hit five aces and won 75% of his first service points to close the match after two and a half hours, winning 5-7, 7-5, 6-3.

Ramirez Hidalgo will play Federico Gaio next. The qualifier won the all-Italian-affair against Filippo Volandri in straight sets 6-2, 6-1. Gaio fired four aces and won 72% of his first service points to prevail after 64 minutes.
