Dellien Celebrates Maiden Challenger Title At Sarasota Open

Four years after reaching his first final on the ATP Challenger Tour in Montevideo, Hugo Dellien‘s maiden moment has arrived on Sunday at the $100,000 Elizabeth Moore Sarasota Open. The 24-year-old from Bolivia rallied past Facundo Bagnis of Argentina 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 to lift his maiden trophy on the green clay.

Dellien sent down five aces and capitalized on six of his eight break point chances to seal victory in one hour and 57 minutes. The Trinidad, Beni, Bolivia native became just the second player from his country to hoist a trophy and the first on the ATP Challenger Tour since Mario Martínez in 1983.

Dellien takes away $14,400 in prize money as well as 90 ATP ranking poinst and 59 spots in the ATP Rankings to a career-high World No. 172.

Earlier in the day, Evan King and Hunter Reese captured the doubles title. The US-American duo eased past Christian Harrison from the United States and Peter Polansky of Canada 6-1, 6-2. The final ended after only 49 minutes.
