Benoit Paire crashes out at Milan Challenger

Aspria Tennis Cup’s top seed Benoit Paire crashed out on quarterfinals Friday in Milan. The world number 67 lost to Rogerio Dutra Silva 4-6, 4-6. The Brazilian qualifier broke Paire’s service five times and sealed victory in 80 minutes to reach his first semi-finals of the season meeting the tournament’s number four next.

Marco Cecchinato won the all-Italian-affair against qualifier Flavio Cipolla 6-3, 6-2. The 22-year-old won 86% of his first service points to prevail after one hour and nine minutes.

“I played a great match today,” told Cecchinato. “I am happy because Flavio is a tough opponent but I started well today and I was able to put pressure on my opponent.

Second seed Federico Delbonis defeated Laslo Djere, winning 7-6, 6-3. The world number 82 from Argentina withstood seven aces and won 75% of his first service points to close the match after exactly two hours of play.

Delbonis will take on Calvin Hemery next. The Frenchman took out eighth seed Filippo Volandri, winning 6-0, 1-6, 6-4. Hemery capitalized on four of his nine break points reaching his second ATP Challenger semi-finals of the season after one hour and 29 minutes.
