Davidovich Wins First Professional Title At The Campus Future

QUINTA DO LAGO, March20, 2018

Spanish teenager Alejandro Davidovich Fokina captured his first professional title winning the $15,000 The Campus Future held on hard courts in Quinta do Lago, Portugal. The 18-year-old defeaeted compatriot and No. 3 seed Roberto Ortega-Olmedo in the singles final 7-5, 4-6, 6-1. The title match was suspended on Sunday due to bad weather and continued on Monday.

Davidovich Fokina, who won the 2017 Wimbledon Championships boys’ singles title without dropping a set, appeared in his third final on the ITF Pro Circuit. The right-hander from Málaga finished runner-up in Palma del Río, Bakio and San Sebastián last year. He earns $2,160 in prize money as well as 18 ATP ranking points.

Davidovich Fokina commented on his instagram account:

“First professional title! 🏆 Good two weeks in Portugal, making the semi-finals in the first week in Loulé and finishing champion in Quinta do Lago. Thanks to my team and my family for being by my side at all times!! Today is father’s day and therefore I want to dedicate the title to my father, who taught me to play tennis.
