Griekspoor And Badosa Gibert Win ITF Titles In Glasgow

GLASGOW, February 5, 2018

Scott Griekspoor is the champion of the $15,000 GB PRO-SERIES SCOTTISH CHAMPIONSHIPS held on indoor hard courts at the Scotstoun Leisure Centre in Glasgow.

Griekspoor defeated No. 3 seed Yannick Mertens of Belgium 6-1, 7-6 in Sunday’s men’s singles final. The 27-year-old from the Netherlands struck nine aces, winning 78 per cent of his first service points to secure victoy in three hours and 19 minutes.

Griekspoor captured his 10th ITF Pro Circuit career title, earning $2,160 in prize money as well as 18 ATP ranking points. He fell 11 spots to World No. 262 on Monday.

In the women’s singles final of the $25,000 event, Paula Badosa Gibert of Spain rallied past British wild card entry Maia Lumsden 2-6, 6-1, 6-3. The 20-year-old Spaniard capitalized on four of her eight break point chances to clinch her fourth ITF Pro Circuit title.

The ITF Pro Circuit will stay in Great Britain this week with the combined event taking place at the Sport Tennis Centre of the Loughborough University.
