SCHWIEBERDINGEN, January 8, 2018

The main draw for the Südwestbank Tennis Grand Prix 2018 has been made. The $15,000 ITF Pro Circuit event is the season opening tournament to a four-week indoor swing in Germany and will be held at the Tennis King Academy in Schwieberdingen from 9 to 14 January.

Jan Choinski leads a strong contingent of German players being the event’s top seed. The World No. 297, who hoisted four Futures trophies last year, will open his title bid in Swabia against fellow countryman and wild card entry Dominik Boehler. Choinski won the only previous meeting between the two at the Autolang Bodensee Junior Open back in 2012.

2016 champion Daniel Masur returns to Schwieberdingen as the tournament’s second seed. The 23-year-old from Munich is on his way to climb up back the rankings after injury. The former World No. 203, who is currently ranked World No. 348 and practices at the TennisBase Oberhaching, will face a qualifier in the first round.

Third seed Albano Olivetti of France, who attended the main draw ceremony on Monday afternoon, will start his indoor carpet campaign against compatriot Sebastien Boltz. The 26-year-old from Haguenau leads 1-0 in the head-to-head records between the two.

The tournament’s number four Robin Kern from Germany and Brazilian Bruno Sant’Anna, seeded fifth, will both face a qualifier in the first round.
