Top-seed Facundo Bagnis lost in the quarterfinals

Quarterfinals day at the ATP Challenger in Vicenza should not become a successful one for the Argentine players. All of the remaining four South Americans were knocked out.

Top-seed Facundo Bagnis gained only one break point opportunity in his match against Thiemo De Bakker. The only top 100 player from Rosario lost 4-6, 6-3, 3-6 in two hours and ten minutes.

The tournament’s fourth favourite Guido Pella was knocked out by eighth seed Bjorn Fratangelo. The 25-year-old Argentine, who has reached two ATP Challenger finals before coming to Vicenza, lost his service three times, beaten 4-6, 3-6 in one hour and 36 minutes.

Inigo Cervantes advanced to the semi-finals, winning 6-2,3-6, 6-3 over Guido Andreozzi. The Spaniard won 84% of his first service points to seal victory in one hour and 53 minutes.

Sixth seed John Millman took out Argentine qualifier Pedro Cachin, winning 6-3, 6-7, 6-1 in two hours and three minutes.
