Lorenzo Sonego of Italy claimed his maiden singles title on the ATP Challenger Tour, lifting the trophy at the sixth edition of the €64,000 Sparkasse ATP Challenger Val Gardena, held from 7 to 15 October 2017 at the Tennis Club Ortisei.
The 22-year-old Torino native defeated German qualifier Tim Pütz in Sunday’s final 6-4, 6-4. He received € 9.200 in prize money as well as 80 ATP ranking points.
Sander Arends from the Netherlands and Croatian Antonio Sancic took the doubles crown. They saved three match points in the final, fighting past Jeremy Jahn of Germany and Edan Lesham from Israel 6-2, 5-7, 13-11.
