“The first four months of the season were great. If someone had told me at the beginning of the season that I could break into the top 50 by the end of May, I would have signed the deal immediately. After the tournament in Istanbul, I took a short break to recharge my batteries,” Haider-Maurer told on Monday in order to start his preparation for the next tournaments in Geneva and the French Open in Paris.

“With Paris and Wimbledon, we have two highlights taking place within a short period of time. My expectations regarding my own performance at these tournaments have increased, as my confidence improved due to my good results in recent times. I feel that I have finally established myself on the ATP World Tour,” explained the Austrian, who reached the second round at Roland Garros and Wimbledon two times before.

After the grass court swing, Haider-Maurer will set his focus towards the Davis Cup Europe/Africa Zone 1 tie with Austria facing the Netherlands in Kitzbühel. “We want to return to the world group and therefore we all need to pull in the same direction to meet this goal.”

Haider-Maurer will be back in action on Thursday playing the Austrian Bundesliga team competition with his club Klosterneuburger TV. The team will face TK IEV from Tyrol.
