Only two seeded players advanced to the second round on Day 2 at the Neckar Cup in Heilbronn.

Tournament’s number five Alexander Zverev defeated Horacio Zeballos winning 6-4, 6-2. The 18-year-old German saved all two break points he faced and capitalized on three of his own to seal victory in one hour and ten minutes.

Second seed and defending champion Jan-Lenndard Struff remained untroubled in his opening round match to beat Dutch qualifier Jesse Huta Galung. The German saved all five break points he faced winning 6-3, 6-2 in 62 minutes and was satisfied afterwards: “I am really happy, the way I played today. It was a solid performance.”

The other seeded players fell in the first round. Guido Pella won 67% of his second service points to knock out number six Tobias Kamke winning 7-6, 7-5 in one hour and 51 minutes.

Bjorn Fratangelo defeated fourth seed Dustin Brown when he rallied back from a set down to overcome German in one hour and 51 minutes winning 4-6, 7-5, 7-6.

Czech veteran and seventh seed Radek Stepanek lost to Matthias Bachinger winning only 38% of his second service points. The 28-year-old German set an all-German-affair facing Daniel Brands in the second round through a 6-3, 7-5 victory. Brands defeated Kevin Kravchuk 6-3, 6-2.

Radu Albot took out an in-form John Millman, who reached the quarterfinals in Aix-en-Provence last week, winning 1-6, 7-5, 6-4 in two hours and 23 minutes.

19-year-old Yoshihito Nishioka beat Igor Sijsling winning 6-4, 6-7, 7-6 after two hours and 38 minutes in the closest match of the day. The Japanese youngster defeated the Dutch for a second time this season after a straight set victory in Delray Beach to meet with Andrej Golubev the third remaining seeded player in the draw.
