Two seeded players advance to quarterfinals at Open du Pays d’Aix

Only four seeded players are left in the draw of the Open du Pays d‘Aix on Wednesday, with Malek Jaziri and Robin Haase two of them made it into the quarterfinals.

Second seeded Jaziri gained a comfortable victory without facing a break point to defeat 19-year-old Frenchman Maxime Hamou winning 6-4, 6-4 in 72 minutes.

The tournament’s fourth favourite Dutchman Haase remained also untroubled beating lucky loser Andriej Kapas 6-1, 6-4 in 76 minutes to take on qualifier Jonathan Eysseric in the round of the last eight.

Seventh seed Andrej Golubev, who overcame fellow Kazakh Aleksandr Nedovyesov in the opening round will meet Paul-Henri Mathieu in Thursday’s second round match.

Last remaining seeded player in the draw is the tournament’s number eight in person of German teenager Alexander Zverev. The 18-year-old led 6-4, 3-0 before his opponent Michal Przysiezny was forced to retire. Zverev will take Jose Pereira in the second round.

Aix’s top-seed Blaz Kavcic fell in the first round to Australian John Millman 6-7, 3-6.

On Monday, a couple of personalities from the French tennis sport came to venue in order to support the second edition of the tournament and its director Arnaud Clement.

Former world number 24 Benoit Paire and Henri Leconte made a stopover to watch a couple of rallies on centre court.
