Thompson Advances To Binghamton Quarterfinals

The top two seeds at the $75,000 Levene Gouldin & Thompson Tennis Challenger advanced to the quarterfinals in Binghamton. In the top half of the draw, the tournament’s number one Jordan Thompson defeated US-American wild card entry Alex Rybakov 6-3, 6-3.

The World No. 79 from Australia saved nine of the 10 break points he faced, converting four of his own to secure victory in one hour and 30 minutes. Thompson will next take on Dominik Koepfer of Germany, who edged past Edward Corrie from Great Britain 7-6, 6-4 in one hour and 39 minutes.

In the bottom half of the draw, second seed Alexander Bublik made his way into the stage of the final eight. The #NextGenATP star from Kazakhstan came from a set down to overcome US-American Kevin King 2-6, 6-3, 6-3. Bublik fired 13 aces, winning 78 per cent of his first service points to prevail after one hour and 30 minutes.

Next up for Bublik will be Christian Harrison, who emerged victorious from the all-US-American-encounter with fifth seed Michael Mmoh. Harrison saved all six break points he faced, capitalizing on three of his own to celebrate a 6-4, 6-3 win after one hour and 42 minutes.
