Djere Last Seed Standing At Vicenza Challenger

The quarterfinals of the €43,000 Internazionali Di Tennis Citta Di Vicenza are set with Laslo Djere of Serbia being the last seeded player standing in the singles main draw.

The tournament’s number seven fought past Christian Garin from Chile on Thursday afternoon, winning 6-1, 4-6, 6-3. Djere sent down five aces and broke serve six times to prevail in one hour and 58 minutes.

The World No. 135 will next take on fellow-Serbian Filip Krajinovic. The wild card entry, who clinched the Neckarcup in Heilbronn two weeks ago, beat Mestre champion Joao Domingues of Portugal 7-5, 7-6. The 25-year-old Sombor native won 54 per cent of the total points played to secure victory in one hour and 47 minutes.

Marton Fucsovics also reached the stage of the final eight, easing past Edoardo Eremin of Italy 6-2, 7-5. The World No. 148 from Hungary saved the only break point he faced, capitalizing on three of his own to prevail in one hour and 22 minutes.

Next up for Fucsovics will be Italian wild card Matteo Donati, who rallied from a set down to overcome Leonardo Mayer from Argentina 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 in one hour and 33 minutes.
