DOHA, January 12, 2017
The 25th edition of the Qatar ExxonMobil Open, held at the Khalifa Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha, concluded on Saturday with a thrilling final between World No. 1 Andy Murray and defending champion Novak Djokovic. The latter eventually prevailed in an almost three hours fight on Centre Court.
The week was packed with great tennis action, including Djokovic saving five match points to survive Fernando Verdasco in the semi-finals on Friday. The partnership between Frenchmen Jeremy Chardy and Fabrice Martin yielded a sweet reward as they emerged new doubles champions in Doha. It was a great start into the 2017 season on the ATP World Tour.
