Kvitova Attacked In Her Home In Prostejov

Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova has been injured by a knife-wielding attacker, believed to be a burglar, at her home in the eastern part of the Czech Republic. The incident has been called a “random” attack.

The 26-year-old tennis star suffered a left hand injury and has been treated by doctors, her spokesman, Karel Tejkal, said and added that the incident occured on Tuesday.

Tejkal told Czech news agency CTK: “It was a random criminal act. She was assaulted in her apartment and is in the care of doctors, but her injuries are not life threatening.”

Kvitova is currently recovering from a fractured foot and recently withdrew from the Hopman Cup mixed-team tournament in January.
