TRIMBACH, March 14, 2015

Daniel Brands, former world number 51, has captured his first singles title since 2012 winning the US-$ 15.000 Future event in Trimbach, Switzerland.

The 27-year-old German dominated the tournament right from the first round. Brands didn’t lose a single set to reach the final, where he also gained a straight sets-victory winning 6-3, 6-3 against Kirill Dmitriev from Russia on Saturday’s climax. The third seed fired eight aces on the carpet at Trimbach’s Tennis Centre, only had to save two break points he faced and capitalized on three out of his five opportunities he had on his own.

“The final was pretty similar compared to the semis on Friday. I served well, which is very important on this surface and so I gained a couple of free points,” Brands told after lifting his first ITF Future trophy since 2006. He also took his first Tour title since winning the ATP Challenger crown in Eckental in 2012. The German suffered from mononucleosis last year and dropped in rankings to 333rd Position. “I made the right decision coming to Trimbach. For me it is important to climb up in the ATP rankings again and the points I gained here will me help to fulfill this goal,” he added.

Brands will return to the bigger events playing the ATP 250 World Tour series in Casablanca, Bucharest and Munich the coming weeks.
