Diego Schwartzman and Rogerio Dutra Silva will compete in an Argentine-Brazilian-final of the $50,000 Uruguay Open on Sunday held at Carrasco Lawnt Tennis Club in Montevideo.

Dutra Silva eased past Christian Garin of Chile, who had knocked out the tournament’s number one Nicolas Almagro in the stage of the final eight, winning 6-2, 6-2. The sixth favourite saved both break points he faced, capitalizing on four of his own to advance in 74 minutes.

“This final was still missing to enter the main draw of the Australian Open and that was my goal,” Dutra Silva told.

Second seeded Schwartzman benefited from the retirement of fellow Argentine Carlos Berlocq due to a leg injury, leading 6-1, 4-1 after 45 minutes. The pair will meet for the fifth time with Schwartzman leading 3-1 in head-to-head records. The 24-year-old also emerged victorious from the last encounter between the two at the Barranquilla Challenger earlier this season.

Schwartzman eyes his third title of the season after claiming his maiden title on the ATP World Tour in Istanbul and his Challenger triumph in Barranquilla. Dutra Silva is looking to lift his second trophy in 2016 after the ATP Challenger in Bordeaux.

Later the day, Argentines Andrea Molteni and Diego Schwartzman received a walkover to gain the doubles title from Fabiano De Paulo of Brazil and Christian Garin. The latter was forced to withdraw from the final due to a hip injury.
