KARLSRUHE, August 21, 2016

Marc Giner is the champion of the $10,000 ITF Pro Circuit Mauk Open, rallying in Sunday’s final against Karlsruhe’s local hero Yannick Hanfmann 2-6, 6-1, 6-3.

The German had to finish his semi-final encounter with Andreas Beck in the morning, which was suspended on Saturday due to rain, winning 7-6, 7-6. Then he took on the Spaniard in the title match. Giner had more energy in the end, breaking his opponent’s serve five times to secure victory in one hour and 34 minutes.

Giner captured his 15th Future career title, his second of the season. The 25-year-old from Spain takes away $1,300 in prize money as well as 18 ATP ranking points. He is Karlsruhe’s second consecutive champion from the Iberian peninsula, following 2015 titlist Javier Martí.
