Haerteis And Wagner Win Karlsruhe Doubles Title Indoors

Doubles finalists in Karlsruhe

KARLSRUHE, August 20, 2016

Marc Giner is the first finalist of the $10,000 ITF Pro Circuit Mauk Open held at the KETV, but still has to wait for his opponent in Sunday’s title match. The 25-year-old Spaniard defeated Roberto Cid Subervi from the Dominican Republic 6-1, 2-6, 6-4.

The semi-finals encounter started in drizzling rain when Giner rushed through the opening set. The second seed lost his rhythm in the following, but capitalized on four of his 11 break point chances to eventually convert his first match point after two hours and 12 minutes.

Giner will either face the tournament’s number one Yannick Hanfmann or Andreas Beck. The second semi-final between the two Germans was suspended in the ninth game with Beck leading 5-4 due to bad weather. After a rain delay of two hours, the players agreed to postpone the match to Sunday morning.

The doubles final was moved indoors with the all-German-combination Johannes Haerteis and Hannes Wagner claiming the title with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Roberto Cid Subervi and Naoki Nakagawa in exactly one hour of play. It was the sixth ITF Future team title for the pair, their second of the season.
