SAINT BRIEUC/STARNBERG, March 2, 2026
Sebastian Ofner produced a composed and determined performance to defeat France’s Pierre-Hugues Herbert in Sunday’s singles final of the Open Saint-Brieuc Armor Agglomeration, sealing his fifth career title on the ATP Challenger Tour.
Arriving in France on the back of four consecutive losses, the 29-year-old Austrian traveled to St. Brieuc with limited confidence. However, after a hard-fought opening victory over Britain’s Charles Broom, the former world No. 37 steadily found his rhythm. From that point on, Ofner dropped only one more set on his path to the championship match.
In the final, the world No. 132 faced a formidable opponent in Herbert, a five-time Grand Slam doubles champion. The Frenchman came out aggressively on serve, looking to dictate play early. Ofner, however, was equally solid behind his own serve, barely allowing any opportunities. The No. 4 seed of the ATP Challenger 100 tournament struck eight aces and won 80 per cent of his first-service points. He capitalized on two of his four break-point opportunities to prevail after one hour and 30 minutes.
Three years in the making

“It was a very important week for me,” said Ofner. “Winning in France is special, as there are always many tough players. The atmosphere was great. I am very happy with the week and this win.”
The triumph marks Ofner’s first title since his home victory in Salzburg in July 2023 and the fifth Challenger crown of his career. He earned €23,750 in prize money as well as 100 ATP Ranking points, which is lifting the Bruck an der Mur native to world No. 108.
