DUBAI, February 28, 2026

Daniil Medvedev captured his second Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships title in four years on Saturday after Tallon Griekspoor was forced to withdraw from the ATP 500 final due to injury.

The Dutchman had sustained a left hamstring injury during his semifinal victory over Andrey Rublev on Friday. Following a medical assessment ahead of the championship match, Griekspoor was deemed unfit to compete, handing Medvedev the title.

“I have been better, that’s for sure,” Griekspoor said during the trophy ceremony. “Unfortunately, I hurt myself during the semi-finals. I went to the hospital this morning and had a couple of scans, which showed something serious. It kept me from coming on court tonight and will keep me from the court in the coming weeks.”

Medvedev, also champion in Dubai in 2023, took his 23rd tour-level crown and second of the 2026 season after winning in Brisbane in January.

Heliovaara/Patten triumph in doubles

In the doubles final, third seeds Harri Heliovaara of Finland and Briton  Henry Patten defeated second seeds Marcelo Arevalo from El Salvador and Croatia’s Mate Pavic 7-5, 7-5 to claim the trophy.

The triumph marks their 11th title as a team since beginning their partnership in Marrakech in 2024. With the win, they improve their impressive record together to 102 victories against 33 defeats.
