Daria Snigur had the final smile at the Women’s Indoor Oeiras Open 2, a WTA 125 event held at the Jamor Tennis Complex, capturing the biggest title of her career and moving within touching distance of a Top 100 breakthrough.
In a final between friends, the 21-year-old Ukrainian, who is ranked world No. 133, defeated top seed Viktorija Golubic of Switzerland 6–3, 6–3 in front of a packed crowd. The match lasted 84 minutes and was tactically controlled by Snigur from start to finish.
Ten years younger than her opponent, Snigur countered Golubic’s renowned variety with an unconventional and aggressive game style. Golubic, admired on the women’s tour for her rare one-handed backhand and decorated résumé — including two WTA 250 titles, an Olympic silver medal in doubles, a Wimbledon quarterfinal and a Billie Jean King Cup title — struggled to impose her trademark slice and changes of pace.
Having lost both of their previous encounters, Snigur adjusted smartly this time. She frequently approached the net to Golubic’s backhand side to neutralize the slice, mixing up placement and pace while absorbing her opponent’s best spells. Calm and composed, she maintained control and sealed a straight-sets victory over the former world No. 35.

“This means a lot because I worked very hard to win this title,” Snigur said in her final press conference of the week. “After a difficult year and period, I’ve had many good training sessions in recent months and I’m very happy to win this trophy.”
She also expressed gratitude for unexpected support from Ukrainian fans in the stands. “I was surprised to see Ukrainians with flags cheering for me. It’s very important for me to wear my country’s flag. It’s difficult to talk about, but it gives me extra motivation to win matches and titles. It’s special for me, my family and my country.”
The Jamor triumph marks a career high for Snigur, who won the Wimbledon girls’ title in 2019 and rose to No. 2 in the junior world rankings. Throughout the week in Oeiras, she was flawless — not dropping a set and conceding just 17 games. Her path to the title included impressive wins over Suzan Lamens, second seed Sinja Kraus and former world No. 43 Viktoria Hruncakova.
As she leaves Jamor with the trophy, Snigur also made a promise: “I will definitely return to Portugal — but to play more hard-court tournaments. Not clay!”
With the Oeiras fortnight concluded, the women’s tour now moves north to Porto, where another ITF World Tennis Tour W75 event is underway at the Monte Aventino Sports Complex, also organized by the Portuguese Tennis Federation.
