Harris Leads The Way Into Tenerife Challenger 2 Quarterfinals

Lloyd Harris led the charge into the quarterfinals at Tenerife Challenger 2 with a strong comeback win over qualifier Miguel Damas, rallying from a set down to prevail 6-7(0), 6-3, 6-1. The former world No. 31 once again showed his experience and physical edge, confirming his status as one of the main contenders for the title. Joining him in the last eight are the champion of Tenerife Challenger 1, Daniel Merida, who defeated Toby Samuel 7-6(4), 6-3, as well as Pablo Llamas Ruiz and Luka Mikrut.

Llamas Ruiz ended Jacopo Berrettini’s run with a convincing 6-2, 6-2 victory after the Italian had claimed his first win of the season in the opening round. The Spaniard will now face Mikrut, who came through a tough three-set battle against qualifier Giles Hussey, winning 6-4, 4-6, 6-1.

There was disappointment for Raul Brancaccio, who entered the main draw as a special exempt following his recent final in Cesenatico. Despite an extra day of rest, the Italian could not overcome Pol Martin Tiffon, who produced a composed performance to win 7-6(2), 6-3. Brancaccio nevertheless leaves Tenerife encouraged, having arrived ranked No. 343 in the world and with renewed confidence after a difficult period, a positive sign looking ahead to 2026.
