ROSARIO/STARNBERG, February 8, 2026
Argentina is guaranteed a champion at the second edition of the Quini 6 Rosario Challenger, presented by the Government of the Province of Santa Fe. Top seed and defending champion Camilo Ugo Carabelli will face fifth seed Roman Andres Burruchaga in Sunday’s final, scheduled for 6:30 pm at the Jockey Club.
Ugo Carabelli had to show resilience to turn around a tricky start against Juan Manuel Cerundolo, a rival he had already faced ten times across Challengers and Futures. The left-hander, the only former ATP title winner still in the draw (Cordoba 2021), led 4–2 and later served for the set at 5–4. But the top seed responded in style, reeling off eight consecutive games to take full control of the match and close it out convincingly.

“At the beginning I was a bit stiff because yesterday I finished late and tired after two matches, but then I started to feel better and in the second set my level was similar to what I’ve shown all week,” Ugo Carabelli said. The win also maintained a curious trend in their rivalry: he has now won all the odd-numbered meetings, leading the head-to-head 6–5.
Perfect week so far for Burruchaga: eight matches played, eight wins, and not a single set dropped. The 24-year-old from Buenos Aires delivered another solid performance against Chun-Hsin Tseng of Chinese Taipei, the only Asian player in the tournament, winning 6–3, 6–3. With 69 per cent of points won on first serve and 63 per cent on second serve, Burruchaga conceded his serve just once and controlled the match throughout. A victory in Sunday’s final would secure him a place in the Top 100 for the first time.

If Ugo Carabelli lifts the trophy, he will claim his eighth Challenger title (all on clay) and his first since winning in Rosario in 2025. Burruchaga, meanwhile, is chasing his fourth Challenger crown, after titles last year in Piracicaba, Buenos Aires and Costa do Sauípe. Their head-to-head is tied at 2–2, with Burruchaga winning the last two meetings.
Mena/Carou triumph in doubles
Earlier on Saturday, Argentina also celebrated in doubles. Facundo Mena and Uruguay’s Ignacio Carou, the No. 4 seeds, defeated Miguel Angel Reyes-Varela of Mexico and Fernando Romboli from Brazil 6–1, 6–4 to take the title. It was their second Challenger trophy together after Lima 2022; overall, it marked Mena’s fifth and Carou’s fourth title at this level.
The Quini 6 Rosario Challenger is the only ATP Challenger 125 event in Argentina and one of the most important tournaments in the region. Tickets for Sunday’s final day are sold out.
