Great Britain became the first nation to advance to the 2026 Davis Cup Qualifiers Second Round after their 4-0 victory in Oslo on Friday. They will face the winner of the tie between Ecuador and Australia, which begins on Saturday.

Croatia’s Dino Prizmic mounted an impressive comeback to defeat Denmark’s August Holmgren 5-7, 6-0, 6-2 to level that tie at 1-1 after day one, while Germany’s Jan-Lennard Struff defeated Peru’s Juan Pablo Varillas 6-4, 6-2 to secure a 2-0 lead for his nation heading into Saturday.
“That was an important win that puts us in a good position for tomorrow. The atmosphere was there from the start and really pushed me forward. But it’s only 2–0, and we have to stay focused tomorrow to get the crucial third point,” Struff said after the match.
Japan and Austria are also tied at 1-1 after Yosuke Watanuki defeated Sebastian Ofner 6-3, 6-4 before Jurij Rodionov levelled for Austria by defeating Shintaro Mochizuki 6-4, 7-5. Chile’s tie against Serbia begins at 2100 GMT, while Canada’s clash against Brazil gets underway later on Friday.

The draws for the remaining seven ties in the Qualifiers First Round also took place on Friday. Match-ups scheduled for the opening day of play at those ties include USA’s Tommy Paul against Hungary’s Zsombor Piros, Czechia’s Jiri Lehecka against Sweden’s Dragos Nicolae Madaras and France’s Arthur Rinderknech against Slovakia’s Norbert Gombos.
