Droguet Knocks Out Kovacevic At Open Quimper Bretagne Occidentale

Several seeded players of the 17th edition of the Open Quimper Bretagne Occidentale were eliminated in a dramatic Round of 16 on Thursday, underlining the depth and competitiveness of the field at the ATP Challenger Tour 125 tournament in Brittany, France

Top seed and World No. 56 Aleksandar Kovacevic from the United States suffered a straight-sets defeat at the hands of Frenchman Titouan Droguet, losing two tight tiebreaks. Third-seeded Spaniard Pedro Martínez was also knocked out, falling to defending champion Sascha Gueymard Wayenburg of France after a closely contested first set.

Sixth seed Nikoloz Basilashvili from Georgia exited the tournament following a straight-sets loss to local wild card entry Thomas Faurel, while seventh seed Benjamin Bonzi of France was the most convincing performer among the top seeds, cruising past Briton Billy Harris for the loss of just four games. Eighth seed Mackenzie McDonald from the United States also progressed comfortably, defeating Spanish veteran Roberto Carballes Baena in straight sets.
