NSW State Champion Jordan Smith has become a millionaire overnight after claiming victory in the AO 1 Point Slam Driven by Kia on Rod Laver Arena.

Representing Castle Hill Tennis Academy, Smith entered the event alongside AFL star Bailey Smith before storming through the draw.

The 29-year-old Smith stunned fans by knocking out world No.2 Jannik Sinner and dual Grand Slam finalist Amanda Anisimova on his way to the final, where he defeated world No.111 Joanna Garland to secure the $1 million dollar prize.

“I’m just happy I won a point. I was so nervous. It’s just unbelievable…” Smith said after the event.

Asked how he will spend the money, he responded “I don’t know what I will do invest or buy a house.”

A lifelong tennis player, Jordan first picked up the racquet when he was three years old, with his dad coaching him from an early age. He won two national junior singles titles and three national junior doubles titles between 2008 and 2012 and captained the Oakhill College First V tennis team to their state title in 2014. As a junior he played against Cam Norrie and Alexander Zverev.

The sold-out 1 Point Slam event captured global attention, with some of the world’s leading tennis players signing up to the winner-takes-all showdown.

In this high-stakes format, every match was a single point – win and advance, lose and you’re out.

A total of 48 players battled it out, each representing an Australian tennis club, with Jordan walking away with $50,000 for his local club.

The draw featured a star-studded lineup of global tennis icons including Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Iga Swiatek, Coco Gauff, Alexander Zverev and Naomi Osaka. Joining them was celebrity wildcards such as Andy Lee, Jay Chou, Karl Stefanovic and Damien Oliver.

As the last amateur standing, Queensland State Champion Alec Reverente also took home a brand-new Kia EV3 GT-Line in Matcha Green.
