MUNICH, December 18, 2025
The ATP 500 tournament in Munich is shaping up for an outstanding upcoming edition. With Alexander Zverev, Taylor Fritz and Ben Shelton, three world-class players and current Top 10 stars have already confirmed their participation in the BMW Open by Bitpanda well in advance. Following the highly successful ATP 500 debut last April, tennis fans can once again look forward to a top-tier field from April 11–19, 2026, at MTTC Iphitos. All three have previously reached the final or lifted the trophy in Munich, and all three will arrive with the clear goal of winning the title.
Leading the way is defending champion Alexander Zverev. The 28-year-old German has won the prestigious tournament three times, including this year’s inaugural edition as an ATP 500 event. Currently ranked world No. 3, Zverev is now level with Philipp Kohlschreiber as the tournament’s record champion, with three titles each. “Munich has a permanent place in my calendar and feels like a second home every time I come here. The support and atmosphere are simply incredible, and I’m really looking forward to returning in April,” said Zverev.
Also set to return to the BMW Open by Bitpanda is US-American Taylor Fritz. After reaching the final in 2024 (losing to Jan-Lennard Struff) and being forced to withdraw this year due to injury, fans will once again get the chance to watch the 28-year-old Californian in action. With two titles, a Wimbledon semifinal appearance and a career-high ranking of world No. 6, Fritz can look back on a very successful year and will head into the new season full of confidence.
Rounding out the world-class trio is this year’s runner-up Ben Shelton. The US-American star is currently ranked No. 9 in the world, having already climbed as high as No. 5 this season, and celebrated his first-ever Masters 1000 title in Toronto. After his final loss to Alexander Zverev in Munich, Shelton—like his compatriot Fritz—will be determined to take the final step and improve that result next April.
“The fact that these three players are returning once again is a strong statement about the appeal of our tournament. It underlines our ambition to offer fans in Munich tennis at the absolute highest level,” said tournament director Patrik Kühnen.
Zverev, Fritz and Shelton will begin their campaigns on Monday (April 13) and Tuesday (April 14). Tickets are still available for Monday through Thursday at www.bmwopen.de. Tickets for quarterfinal Friday and the final weekend are already sold out, so fans are advised to act quickly, as the remaining days traditionally sell out early in the year as well. New this year is the option to purchase reserved seating tickets for Court 1 (including access to the outer courts), where at least one singles match per day is scheduled during the week. Prices start at €34.
