HONG KONG, December 15, 2025 (Media Release)

Three players ranked inside the world’s top 50 – Lorenzo Sonego, Arthur Fils, and Alexandre Muller – have joined a stellar field for the Bank of China Hong Kong Tennis Open (“BOCHKTO”) 2026.

The trio, currently ranked 39th, 40th, and 42nd in the world respectively, will join four of the world’s top 20 men’s tennis stars – Lorenzo Musetti, Alexander Bublik, Andrey Rublev, and Karen Khachanov – from 4 to 11 January at the iconic Victoria Park Tennis Centre Court to open the ATP Tour season in Hong Kong.

The Bank of China Hong Kong Tennis Open 2026 is proud of being an “M” Mark event that helps enhance the image of Hong Kong as Asia’s sports event capital. The “M” Mark status is awarded by the Major Sports Events Committee symbolizing intense, spectacular and signature events in the territory sports calendar.

Italian Sonego, who reached the last 16 earlier this year in Hong Kong, has enjoyed an impressive 2025 season, reaching his first Grand Slam Singles’ quarterfinal at the Australian Open, and winning his second Davis Cup title.

21-year-old French wunderkind Fils is no stranger to local fans having reached the final eight at the last two BOCHKTO tournaments. After starting his ATP Tour season in Hong Kong in January, Fils notched back-to-back quarterfinal appearances at ATP Masters 1000 tournaments in Indian Wells and Miami in March, which took him to his highest ever world ranking of 14. The Frenchman suffered a back injury at Roland Garros and had to eventually cut his 2025 short. BOCHKTO 2026 will be his first tournament after his injury.

Fils’ compatriot, defending Hong Kong champion Alexandre Muller, has confirmed he will defend the BOCHKTO title he won so emphatically here 12 months ago.  Ironman Muller needed three sets to win every one of his matches in Hong Kong in January, and built on that momentum to enjoy his best ever season as a professional. Following his Hong Kong win, the 28-year-old reached the final of the ATP500 event in Rio, and staked his place in the world’s top 40 throughout the season.

With total prize money exceeding USD 730,000, the 28-player Singles’ draw will also feature some of China’s top stars led by the men’s singles champion and the runner-up at the 15th National Games – Wu Yibing and Jerry Shang Juncheng respectively, as well as local star Coleman Wong Chak-lam, who became the first male player from the city to reach the third round of a Grand Slam at the US Open this year.

In addition to the enthralling action on the court, there are plenty of fun activities off it for all to enjoy. In a special collaboration with Sanrio Hong Kong, limited-edition themed merchandise featuring some of the most popular Sanrio characters, including Hello Kitty, Dear Daniel, Pompompurin, and Macaron will be available for purchase at the free-to-enter Tournament Village.

A number of locally sourced brands will showcase their homemade creations at the mini market within the Tournament Village. A pickleball court and various tennis-inspired games accompany, as well as the giant LED screen showing all the action live inside the stadium in the public viewing area, add to the attractions inside the Village. Visitors can watch, play, and dine in the Village as we celebrate all things tennis at BOCHKTO 2026.

The tournament’s innovative hospitality offering – the Culinary Room – will also return offering corporate ticket holders the opportunity to upgrade their BOCHKTO 2026 experience as five award winning chefs take guests on an unforgettable gastronomical journey each day from Wednesday, 7 January.
