HAMBURG/STARNBERG, December 4, 2025
Great news for all German tennis fans: Alexander Zverev, Germany’s top-ranked player and current World No. 3, will compete at the prestigious ATP 500 event at Hamburg’s Rothenbaum Tennis Complex from 16 to 23 May 2026. For the Hamburg native, the Bitpanda Hamburg Open is always a special highlight on the calendar – and once again an opportunity to lift the trophy at the historic clay-court tournament in Northern Germany.
Zverev has been one of the most consistent world-class players on the ATP Tour for years. In 2025, he captured the ATP 500 title in Munich, reached the Australian Open final and qualified for the ATP Finals in Turin for the eighth time in his career. He also led the German Davis Cup team to the semifinals in Bologna. His connection with Hamburg’s iconic Center Court runs deep: his ATP Tour debut in 2013, the title in 2023 and the final in 2024 all underline his long-standing bond with the Rothenbaum.
“I’m really looking forward to playing the Bitpanda Hamburg Open again in 2026,” said Zverev. “Playing at home means so much to me – and I can already feel the special energy that the Hamburg crowd creates every single year.”
Tournament Director Enric Molina Mur stated:
“Having Alexander Zverev return to the Bitpanda Hamburg Open is fantastic news – for the event and for all tennis fans in Germany. Sascha is our ‘local hero’ and one of the biggest global names in the sport. His presence always brings a unique atmosphere to the Rothenbaum. We appreciate his continued support and are proud to announce him as the first confirmed player for what promises to be an outstanding week of tennis in May 2026.”
In the coming weeks and months, fans can look forward to the announcement of more top players for the Bitpanda Hamburg Open. The long-standing clay-court tournament is one of the most important ATP 500 events worldwide and will be organized by Tennium for the third time in 2026.
