The TERRA WORTMANN OPEN are set for an extraordinary edition in 2026, with a truly world-class line-up headed by Olympic champion Alexander Zverev. Germany’s top player will return to the OWL ARENA to once again battle for the title on the famous grass courts. Joining him are US-American stars Ben Shelton, Taylor Fritz, and Frances Tiafoe, as well as world-class contenders Daniil Medvedev, Andrey Rublev, and Italy’s rising sensation Flavio Cobolli.

Alexander Zverev – Germany’s No. 1 Returns to Halle

Olympic gold medalist Alexander Zverev has long been one of the biggest draws at the TERRA WORTMANN OPEN. Known for his imposing court presence, explosive baseline play, and emotional intensity, Zverev consistently delivers special moments in Halle. The world No. 3 is one of the few players capable of winning titles across all surfaces – proof of his versatility and immense talent.

“Alexander Zverev is a true institution in Halle,” says Weber. “He’s not only a national icon but also personally connected to our tournament. He loves Halle – and the fans love him back.”

With 24 ATP titles, including seven Masters 1000 trophies and two ATP Finals victories (2018 and 2021), Zverev remains one of the sport’s most consistent performers. After several deep runs on the fast Halle grass, he’ll once again aim for the title in 2026.

Daniil Medvedev – The Master Strategist

The 2021 US Open champion and multiple Grand Slam finalist Daniil Medvedev returns to Halle as one of the most intelligent and tactically gifted players on the ATP Tour. The former world No. 1 and 2022 Halle champion brings a calm, analytical presence to the court.

“Medvedev represents intelligence and mental strength – qualities that make him one of the most fascinating players of our time,” notes Weber.

With 21 ATP titles, including six Masters 1000 crowns and the 2020 ATP Finals, Medvedev’s tactical precision and ability to dismantle opponents’ rhythms make him a formidable force on any surface.

Andrey Rublev – Pure Energy and Emotion

Twice a finalist in Halle, Andrey Rublev is known for his relentless aggression and emotional fire. The 28-year-old has captured 17 ATP titles, including Masters 1000 victories, and continues to thrill fans with his explosive power and passion.

“Andrey Rublev plays with heart and intensity – he embodies our tournament’s spirit: tennis with passion and personality,” says Weber.

Rublev has become a crowd favorite in Halle, where his attacking style and fiery competitiveness make him one of the most exciting players to watch.

Ben Shelton – The Electrifying US-American

At just 22 years old, Ben Shelton has quickly established himself as one of the brightest stars of the new generation. The left-hander from Atlanta combines athleticism, charisma, and raw power in a style that captivates fans around the world.

After reaching the quarterfinals at the 2023 Australian Open and the semifinals at the US Open, Shelton lifted his first Masters 1000 title in Toronto, cementing his place among the world’s elite.

“Ben Shelton represents the new face of US-American tennis – athletic, entertaining, and fearless,” says Weber. “His debut in Halle will be a major highlight.”

Taylor Fritz – United States’ No. 1 with Precision and Power

World No. 4 Taylor Fritz is the leading figure of US-American men’s tennis. A model of consistency and professionalism, the Californian has proven himself across all surfaces, including grass.

Winner of the 2022 Indian Wells Masters and multiple ATP titles, including Eastbourne and Stuttgart, Fritz combines tactical intelligence with powerful baseline play.

“Taylor Fritz is an exceptionally complete player – technically strong, mentally composed, and a true professional,” Weber remarks.

Fritz himself is eager for his return: “It feels amazing to come back to Halle. The tournament has such a great atmosphere, fantastic conditions, and a deep tradition. I can’t wait to compete for the title in 2026.”

Frances Tiafoe – The Showman with Heart

Few players entertain like Frances Tiafoe. The 27-year-old US-American combines flair, athleticism, and joy on court, making him one of the ATP Tour’s most beloved figures.

His run to the US Open semifinals in 2022, where he defeated Rafael Nadal, marked the pinnacle of his career so far. Since then, he has added multiple ATP titles – including one on grass in Stuttgart.

“Frances brings a unique energy to every match,” says Weber. “He lives and breathes tennis – our fans will absolutely love him.”

Tiafoe is also thrilled about his first appearance in Halle: “I’ve heard so many great things about this tournament – the fast courts, the amazing fans, and the incredible atmosphere. I can’t wait to experience it myself.”

Flavio Cobolli – Italy’s Rising Star

At 23 years old, Flavio Cobolli symbolizes the surge of Italian men’s tennis. The Florentine native has impressed with his emotional, attacking style and has broken into the Top 30 of the ATP Rankings.

Cobolli’s breakthrough came in 2024 with several ATP semifinal appearances and his first Grand Slam victories, followed by ATP titles in Bucharest and Hamburg in 2025.

“Flavio Cobolli plays with courage and instinct – his energy and passion fit perfectly with our tournament philosophy,” Weber concludes.
