VILLENA/STARNBERG, October 3, 2025
In a day full of excitement, high-quality tennis, and a spectacular atmosphere at the JC Ferrero Tennis Academy, No. 3 seed Pablo Carreno Busta secured his place in the semifinals of the Alicante Ferrero Challenger. The former World No. 10 defeated fellow Spaniard Martin Landaluce 6-3, 6-1 in a match that, despite the scoreline, delivered plenty of tightly contested moments and top-level tennis.
Carreno Busta saved all four break points he faced and capitalized on four of his own 11 break-point opportunities to advance in one hour and 23 minutes.

With this victory, Carreno Busta will face rising Czech talent Petr Brunclik in the semifinals, as the 19-year-old qualifier continues his impressive run at the ATP Challenger Tour 100 hard-court tournament. On the other side of the draw, Madrid’s Daniel Merida fought past Briton Geoffrey Loffhagen 6-1, 1-6, 7-5 and will look to book a historic all-Spanish final if he can overcome experienced Frenchman Hugo Grenier, a two-time Challenger finalist.
The doubles competition will also take center stage on Saturday with a thrilling final. Czech duo Petr Nouza and Patrik Rikl will go up against Sem Verbeek from the Netherlands and Belgian Sander Gille.
