The excitement continues at the JC Ferrero Tennis Academy, as the Alicante Ferrero Challenger hit a thrilling high point with quarterfinal spots now decided. Three Spanish players remain in contention for the title: Pablo Carreno, Martin Landaluce, and Daniel Merida.
The 34-year-old Carreno Busta, a former Top 10 player, will face rising star Landaluce in a highly anticipated generational showdown. The experience and composure of the Asturian will clash with the fearless energy of the young Madrilenian in what promises to be one of the standout matches of the ATP Challenger Tour 100 hard-court tournament.
Daniel Merida, meanwhile, continues to impress and will meet Britain’s Harry Loffhagen in the quarterfinals.
Among the international standouts, Czech talent Petr Brunclik delivered a commanding win over Austria’s Neil Oberleitner. Having advanced from qualifying, Brunclik’s remarkable run will now be tested against Italy’s Luca Potenza in a pivotal clash.
The final quarterfinal spot will see French contender Hugo Grenier, one of the tournament favorites, take on German surprise package Tom Gentzsch, who has showcased exceptional tennis in what is already the best tournament of his career.
