Copa Faulcombridge Valencia

VALENCIA, September 30, 2025

The Provincial Council of Valencia hosted this morning the official presentation of the Copa Faulcombridge by Marcos Automoción, an ATP Challenger 125 tournament that will take place from October 5 to 12 at the Club de Tenis Valencia. The event featured the participation of Rocío Gil, Valencia’s City Councillor for Sports; Vicent Mompó, President of the Provincial Council; Luis Cervera, Director General of Sports of the Generalitat Valenciana; Pablo Andújar, Tournament Director; and Ole Andresen, President of Club de Tenis Valencia.

Andresen opened the speeches by highlighting the importance of practicing tennis. “I welcome the institutional support for this tournament because it promotes health. According to numerous medical studies, tennis is the healthiest sport as it works all muscle groups, supports mental well-being, and lifts the spirit. It fosters health, personal relationships, and happiness,” he said, adding his pride that a club with more than 120 years of history “hosts one of the finest tournaments organized in Spain.”

The Copa Faulcombridge is one of only two ATP Challenger 125 events held in Spain and ranks as the country’s fourth most important tennis tournament. Tennis legends such as Manolo Orantes, Manolo Santana, David Ferrer, and most recently Pedro Martínez have lifted this trophy.

For her part, Councillor Rocío Gil stressed that the tournament “highlights Valencia’s historic role as a host city for top-level tennis competitions.” She emphasized the pride of Valencians in welcoming such an event that feels “at home from day one” and underlined the privilege of enjoying professional tennis in the heart of the city. Gil also noted the tournament’s charitable focus this year, with proceeds supporting victims of the recent DANA storm.

Luis Cervera and Vicent Mompó both underscored the importance of bringing professional sports closer to schools and involving children in tournaments like this. As a new feature this year, the event will run alongside the Copa Faulcombridge by Young Tennis Tour, a youth competition whose final stage will be played at Club de Tenis Valencia during the same weekend as the Challenger semifinals and final. “It’s a way of connecting the elite level of tennis with the sport’s future talents,” explained Tournament Director Pablo Andújar.

A week of top-level tennis with strong Valencian presence

The tournament will begin on Sunday, October 5, with the qualifying rounds and will feature a main draw of 32 players, including Valencian stars Pedro Martínez and Carlos Taberner.

One of the standout moments of this edition will be the official retirement of Catalan player Albert Ramos Viñolas, who has chosen to say farewell to professional tennis at this event, marking an emotional occasion for both himself and the Valencian fans.

In a commitment to local talent, the organization confirmed that wildcards will be awarded to Valencian players, many of whom trained at the Club de Tenis Valencia, reinforcing its mission to showcase the region’s tennis potential.
