TODI/STARNBERG, August 15, 2025
Stefano Travaglia has reached the semifinals of the Internazionali di Tennis Città di Todi | CERgo Tennis Cup. On Thursday, the No. 6 seed from Ascoli produced a strong display to defeat fourth seed Lukas Neumayer 6-4, 6-3 at the ATP Challenger Tour 75 event organized by MEF Tennis Events. Earlier in the day, Valentin Vacherot and Timofey Skatov secured their own places in the last four, while Juan Carlos Prado Angelo ended Marco Cecchinato’s run with a dominant 6-2, 6-2 victory.
With a mix of tactical awareness, physical sharpness, and determination, Travaglia is back in the semifinals in Umbria. The former World No. 60 had lost his last two encounters with Neumayer in straight sets, but turned the tables this time.
“Today I started the match really well,” Travaglia said. “In the past two seasons I always lost in two sets to Lukas, so I prepared differently this time, mixing up my game a lot. We both played at a high level, and I’m happy to have won this time.”
Since the Perugia Challenger, Travaglia has been working with coach Alessandro Motti, a former World No. 91 in doubles. “I already knew Alessandro very well — we’re friends first of all, and we’re working well together. We have a lot more weeks planned, including the trip to New York for the US Open qualifying.”
Currently ranked No. 233, Travaglia is keen to make the most of his week in Todi. “This is a special club for me. The tournament is very well organized, and I want to thank MEF Tennis Events for making us all feel at home. I always have the motivation to give my best, and I hope to keep going like this.”
Travaglia will face Prado Angelo in Friday’s evening semifinal for a place in the final. The former junior World No. 1 is one win away from his second career Challenger final. The 2005-born Bolivian, who claimed his first title in Lima this June, swept past Cecchinato in under an hour.

“The match started in tricky conditions,” said the current World No. 261. “Then we had a rain delay. It wasn’t easy to deal with, but I managed it well and imposed my game. I feel good here in Todi. I fought hard in my first two rounds and I’m used to the heat. Now I’ll rest before preparing for the semifinal.”
