TULLN/STARNBERG, August 13, 2025
Even a first glance at the acceptance list for the fifth edition of the €145,250 ATP 100 Challenger in Tulln, Austria promises top-class tennis.
As of now, 20 players from 16 different nations have secured direct entry into the main draw of the NÖ Open powered by EVN 2025 at the Tulln Tennis Club. Among them are former Top-100 stars such as Chile’s Cristian Garin, once ranked as high as No. 17 in the world. Earlier this year, in May, Garin claimed the Danube Upper Austria Open powered by SKE in Mauthausen, followed by another Challenger title in Oeiras, Portugal. On the ATP Tour, the 28-year-old has already lifted five singles trophies. Bolivia’s Hugo Dellien – the 2011 US Open junior champion – has captured 14 ATP Challenger singles titles in his career, most recently in Prostejov last June. The former world No. 64 is another big name in the Tulln line-up.
Swiss left-hander Dominic Stricker, still only 22, reached a career-high ranking of No. 88 after his sensational run to the last 16 at the 2023 US Open as a qualifier, defeating Alexei Popyrin and Stefanos Tsitsipas along the way. Following a long injury layoff and a transition away from his father’s management, Stricker has been showing renewed form, recently beating Pierre-Hugues Herbert and pushing top star Casper Ruud to the limit in Gstaad.
The 2024 champion, Britain’s Jan Choinski (ATP No. 151), will return to defend his title, while last year’s finalist Lukas Neumayer (ATP No. 162) from Salzburg will be eager to go one step further. The 22-year-old recently upset World No. 83 Carlos Taberner in the Cordenons Challenger semi-finals before falling to former Top-30 player Dusan Lajovic in the final. In Tulln, he will be targeting that elusive first Challenger crown. Another player to watch is Colombia’s Daniel Elahi Galan (ATP No. 144), a former World No. 56, who will be chasing his seventh Challenger title.
A strong Austrian contingent is also in the mix, including Joel Schwaerzler, Maximilian Neuchrist, Sandro Kopp, Dennis Novak, and Neil Oberleitner, who recently reached the doubles final in Kitzbühel alongside Schwaerzler.
“Who will actually play here can’t be confirmed 100 per cent yet,” says tournament director Florian Leitgeb. “Many top players decide based on their results in the US Open qualifying and the first week of the main draw. But even now, the acceptance list shows huge interest. Our tournament has earned an excellent reputation among international players thanks to our outstanding hospitality, the club’s welcoming atmosphere, and the close connection to the fans.”
