TODI/STARNBERG, August 9, 2025
The 17th edition of the Internazionali di Tennis Città di Todi | CERgo Tennis Cup is adding new names with the announcement of its wild cards. The already competitive entry list, led by defending champion Carlos Taberner, will now feature a strong group of young Italian talents. Lorenzo Carboni, Jacopo Vasamì, and Pierluigi Basile have all been awarded direct entry into the main draw of the ATP Challenger 75 event, organized by MEF Tennis Events. In qualifying, Andrea De Marchi and Giorgio Tabacco will also take to the courts at the Tennis Club Todi 1971 from August 10 to 16.
This year, tennis in Todi will be celebrated both on and off the court. The Davis Cup trophy, won by the Italian national team last November, will be on public display at the Sala Vetrata in Piazza Garibaldi on August 9 and 10.

Rising Italian talents in Todi
Three main draw wild cards, all born between 2006 and 2007, symbolize the new wave of energy set to light up the Tennis Club Todi 1971 in just a few days. Leading the trio is Rome’s Jacopo Vasamì, enjoying a stellar 2025 season with three major junior titles — the latest at the prestigious Trofeo Bonfiglio — which have propelled him to No. 2 in the ITF under-18 rankings. Vasamì has already reached a Challenger semifinal in Milan and had a special moment at Wimbledon, training with World No. 1 Jannik Sinner just before Sinner’s quarterfinal against Ben Shelton.
Joining him will be Lorenzo Carboni and Pierluigi Basile, aged 19 and 18. Carboni, ranked No. 552 ATP, is a Roland Garros junior semifinalist steadily adapting to the pro circuit. Basile, nicknamed “Pigi,” returns to Todi after making history last year as the first player born in 2007 to come through qualifying and win a main draw match at a Challenger. He confirmed his potential in Perugia this season, reaching his first Challenger semifinal — again as a qualifier — and winning over local crowds with his dynamic play.
